The Jazz & Blues ARTBOX is absolutely unique. It contains concert recordings of legendary jazz and blues artists from 1983-2002 on a total of 230 DVDs. The recordings were all produced by Swiss Television, adhering to the highest quality standards these twenty years. This collection consists without exception of live concerts from outstanding legends such as Clark Terry, Steve Gadd, Dave Brubeck, John Lewis, Sarah Vaughan, Sonny Rollins, Ahmad Jamal, Milt Hinton, Lionel Hampton, Ron Carter, Monty Alexander, Oscar Peterson, Wynton Marsalis, Dizzy Gillespie, and hundreds more. The International Jazzfestival Bern was televised and broadcast for twenty years, from 1983 until 2002 by Swiss Televison. Because of the high standards of the festival, the 230 DVDs included in the ARTBOX are the most extensive collection of undiluted jazz, blues and gospel ever assembled.

Hans Zurbrügg went a step further and convinced Swiss television to record and broadcast interviews and classes as well. These previously unreleased interviews with 96 of the most important Jazz & Blues legends provide an in-depth insight into the life and musical heritage of Jazz & Blues culture.

344 large-format pages are filled with enthralling stories about the artists who appeared from 1976 through 2013 at the International Jazz Festival Bern. The eyewitness reports and quotes by the musicians themselves give a fascinating view into the world of Jazz and Blues over the last 40 years.

This book completes the Jazz & Blues ARTBOX, which consists of 230 DVDs, 20 yearbooks and a cabinet from USM, decorated by artist Roger Pfund.
